Oh, the things I’d do with you! I’d lavish myself with a day at the spa or pay a ridiculous amount of money for the same hair color I get out of a box. I’d buy some new shoes or a silly, overpriced purse. Maybe even blow some of it at some hoity little restaurant.
But no…I can’t. My refund check is going to all sorts of unattractive, not sexy, blah items.
A washer and dryer- yes, while this is something I will indeed be happy to have, I am not at all happy to be handing the money over for it. But hey, at least the days at the laundrymat and Mom’s house will be over.
A new dresser for the princess- She’s outgrown her old one and I want to buy her something nice. Not too nice, but just right.
Setting aside money for doctor co-pays/prescriptions- This one is a must at the moment. Chloe and I started the year off with a bang and have been handing pretty hefty chunks of my paycheck over for doctor co-pays. These things are obviously unexpected and I don’t want to feel the pinch I did the next time around.
Possibly a down payment on a new(er) car- My poor beast has 223K miles on it. Yeah, you read that right. Little thing is still chugging along, but I know her days are coming to an end.
So while I’m incredibly grateful to be able to receive a nice tax refund and know others aren’t so lucky, I am still fighting with my teenage self over where the money is going. Man, the things I’d buy if I wasn’t a grown-up, with grown-up responsibilities.
I’m sure I’ll be able to sneak a little something for myself…..

As my grown-up self is taking all my fun and money...atleast do something for yourself! :) I'm thinking of a new purse (and I'm not the Coach type either, so I'm cheap..lol...)
Yea, this whole grown up thing kind of sucks.
It actually makes me happy that your car as 223K miles on it...mine is at 103k, so it gives me hope that I'll be able to keep it awhile longer :)
