It wouldn’t be a weekday morning without some sort of catastrophe, so of course today was no different.
While I’m trying to figure out why my eye is still swollen and puffy and has a sty (wth?!), the princess starts. Oy.
Today’s dilemma (that is certain to ruin her whole day…or at least my morning)- she wants to wear her glittery black shoes, pack her gym shoes and her boots. Now while that might not seem like too big of a deal and I don’t really now how it’s like in the classroom, I’m still pretty darn sure the teacher does not want her to have so many shoe changes.
Yes, today is gym, so go ahead and wear those, but no, you do not need to wear your glittery black shoes.
But I want TO! (whiney and defiant)
No, Mrs. So-and-so does not need every child bringing in 3 pairs of shoes.
The boys don’t wear glittery black shoes, Mom. (emphasis on 'Mom' like I'm a moron)
*Sigh* Wear your tennis shoes. Why do you need your boots?
Just in case. We might go outside.
Fine. Wear the tennis shoes and pack your boots.
After some more banter, a few tears and the biggest lower lip I’ve ever seen, the girl is sent to school in her tennis shoes, with boots packed.
But I won’t be surprised if she snuck her glittery black shoes by me.

Sadly, even though I have a boy...we have very similar melt downs almost everyday. Not over glittery black shoes, although I'm sure that would be the case if he had them. It's usually over what pants to wear and heaven forbid if I pick the wrong shirt.
WTH is wrong with these kids?!
With Owen, he really couldn't give a shit what he's wearing.
Cole on the other hand. Yeah. He has to wear his favorite shirts/pants RIGHT NOW or it's WWIII.
I have to hear if she snuck those in!
Don't you just LOVE those mornings?! We've had a few of these since my son started school. Mostly with him wanting to bring his toys to school. He's even gone so far as to sneak them in his backpack...little monster!
