The Tooth Fairy strikes again

Chloe had a loose front tooth for, oh, a month or so. She held onto her first teeth she lost, her bottom two, for so long they were a little gray and no blood came out when they were finally free from her mouth. They were just hanging there. The princess was afraid of how bad they would hurt so she refused to really work on getting them out of there. Well, this time it was different...

First, Chloe was suddenly being bribed by everyone to get the front tooth out. My mother offered her ice cream, my brother threw in an afternoon of playtime, and soon I was tempting her with a "surprise." Apparentally the tooth fairy wasn't enough to persuade her to twist and turn this tooth.

So days went by and then weeks, and still no tooth missing. Camping this weekend it was starting to sway in the wind a little. She could move it with her tongue and make the tooth touch her lip. After getting home from camping, unpacking and then bathing, I told her she better work on her tooth. A minute later she's crying because she sees blood. Not that it hurts, but now she thinks it hurts because she sees the blood. I decide I'm going to have to do this with my hands, literally, and grab a tissue, and twist. Hard. I feel a little pop, but the sucker is still in there, and Chloe is practically in hysterics. I couldn't just leave it in the state it was in, so one more twist and it was out! Chloe's laughing in between tears, and I'm trying to get her to lean over the sink so she doesn't get blood everywhere. Since everything small is magnetically attracted to sink drains, I see the tooth slide into the sink, almost in slow motion. I immediately stick my finger in the drain, but then realize the tooth is underneath my finger. It's practically impossible to move my finger. If I lift it up the tooth will surely be in the drain. So I try to slide it out....doesn't work. Tooth drops down the drain. Chloe is back to crying. I lift the drain up slowly and as if to mock us, the tooth drops off the drain and all the way down the pipes. Flinging the cabinet door open, I guess thinking I was actually going to tear about the sink pipes to get it, I hear Chloe tearfully ask, "Is the tooth fairy small?" GENIUS! Yes! OF COURSE the tooth fairy is small! She can be any size she wants. She can get your tooth out of there, honey, no problem. Phew....saved by the imagination of a child.

(Side note: She did scream again in the morning because she thought the tooth fairy couldn't find her tooth...in reality, the money just slid off her bed.)

I'll post a pic of her toothless grin soon. It's the most adorable thing :)
