Emotional Mess in Aisle 3

I've had quite an exciting and, slightly overwhelming, few weeks. There's been the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The good: Oh, the good is so very good! Tater Tot is looking fantastic and growing like a weed. So much so that this precious one is already estimated at 5 lbs 12 oz. I'm 34 weeks. Yeah. That's a lotta baby considering Princess was 6 lbs 9 oz at 40 weeks plus! The doctor is going to do another estimate on the weight in a couple weeks in order to get a better idea. A 9-pounder could be heading my way...or out my way, I guess...OUCH!

Also fantastically good- my dear friends and family threw me a surprise baby shower!! It was amazing and emotional and I cannot thank them all enough! I wish I had pictures, but not yet. {Stace, get on that, k? ;)} I cried when I walked into the restaurant, cried a little more when I saw the gift my friends got for me (an hour portrait session for the fam once the little one arrives!!), and tear up whenever I see the gifts and/or think about it. Like now! I have some amazing friends and family and am so grateful!

The bad: I'm terrified Princess is getting some sort of bug that's going around. Poor girl woke up and said her stomach was upset, wouldn't eat anything for breakfast, which is a big Uh-Oh because the girl eats, but decided in the end to go to school today. I really only think it's because it's the last day before break and their party that swayed her decision. I'm holding my breath today waiting on a call. I hate when she's sick, let alone right before the holidays! Fingers crossed it passes!

The ugly: Monday night I started having contractions. Super-duper, I-cannot-stand-this-pain! contractions. I tried walking around, laying down, drinking water, all sorts of things, but the pain continued. After an hour and a half and the Guy desperately trying to figure out what he should do, we went to the hospital.

I have some hilarious things to say about our check-in, but those can wait for another post.

Dropped Princess off at my mom's, didn't even have a bag packed because, hello, I should be out of there in a couple hours at the most, right?? Wrong. 13 hours later, after 3 shots to get the contractions to stop, which in turn made me very ill, which then made the contractions start again...and then finally getting medicine for the nausea- still not sure why they didn't offer that to me sooner...an IV that had to be placed by the anaesthesiologist after the nurses failed 4 times, cervix checks by the resident doctor who I've named Mr. Fisty (owwwww!), and we finally went home the next day around noon.

The Guy and I got about 3 hours of sleep total and were a completely exhausted and crying mess (well, I was crying). Really long story (kinda) short, I did dilate to between a 1 and a 2 during that whole time, which is obviously not a big deal, but they wanted to stop the labor since I am only 34 weeks.

Phew.....so, I am extremely grateful it is the weekend, and keeping fingers crossed Tater Tot will stay in his or her comfy home until it is really time.
